The Pimsleur method of learning Russian is how I got to hear someone ask if I was from there. The guy brought some other girl over and told her I was from Russia. It was novel and fun. But, after you do all that, Russian is comprehensible to a point. You can read articles and get the jist. Not to mention sing and rap in Russian. Yay.
